Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has left for Russian Federation on a four-day visit today (Monday) on the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

During his stay in Moscow, the foreign minister will hold official talks with his Russian counterpart.

The two sides would deliberate upon the entire spectrum of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The visit would provide opportunity to explore ways and means to further strengthen cooperation in political, economic, trade and investment, defence, education and cultural fields.

Russia enjoys a special place in Pakistan’s foreign policy. The relations between the two countries have been growing steadily in all fields. Regular high level exchanges between the two countries in the last few years is a manifestation of mutual desire of both sides for translating political good will into a substantive and multidimensional partnership.

  1. Through who’s lens will Khawaja Asif peer at his counterpart in Moscow ! Will he blabber about India In Afghanistan, Iran and Kashmir or is he aware how RAW is trying to cause problems for the Maldive and Sri Lankan Governments both pro Pakistan. Will he discuss Yemen and the movement of separation between North and South. Well union of 1990 never took place on solid grounds and if they separate would Russia help us Republic of South Yemen to establish our naval base in Aden. How much can Russia influence Tajikistan not renew the two Airbases to India. Last of all the Foreign Office herself is topsy turvy eversince Nawaz Sharif held the portfolio.
