Zhaohui was of the view that such efforts were necessary to promote and maintain peace in the region. Zhaohui, while referring to the recent standoff between China and India, also said that both the countries cannot afford to have another Doklam-like incident.

Zhaohui while drawing a comparison also argued that if China, Russia and Mongolia could successfully arrange such summits and solve their issues, then India, Pakistan, and China could also initiate similar summits. He further revealed that Indian officials had expressed their willingness to have some kind of trilateral summit on the sidelines of the SCO summit in China.
