“I can confirm that on the request of the Pakistani side, a meeting between EAM & Pakistani foreign minister will take place on the sidelines of UNGA at a mutually convenient date and time,” India’s MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, in a development following PM Imran Khan’s letter to his Indian counterpart.
Earlier in the day, the Indian media reported that Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote a letter to Indian PM Narendra Modi according to the Indian Foreign Office sources. In his letter, Khan was seeking to restart the bilateral talks on major issues including Kashmir and terrorism.
PM Khan, in his letter dated September 14, had also proposed a meeting between Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
